Let us understand what a ceasefire is:

A given length of time in a given area, an agreement that regulates the cessation of military activity is a cease-fire. Between parties to a conflict, it may be negotiated or it may be declared unilaterally.

In military convention, sometimes the term armistice is used to suspend hostilities over the whole theater of war, usually for an indefinite period of time. Cease-Fire or Armistice is not represented as an end to hostilities; in fact, only a truce. A juridical end to the state of war is reflected. In short, it is just not getting confused with peace agreements, which means the end of conflicts between the parties. Geneva Convention article 15 (GCI Art. 15) says - Humanitarian law requires that “whenever circumstances permit, an armistice or a suspension of fire shall be arranged, or local arrangements made, to permit the removal, exchange and transport of those who are wounded or sick as a result of combat”. It is the military decision to gather forces, evaluate the opponent's authority and chain of command, or carry out negotiations.
